January Obsessions

It's time for my monthly obsession are you excited? Because I a, there have been quite a few things I've be obsessing over this month and here they are:

5. Mary-Jane Heel and Colored Pumps
Ever since I decided that school girl can be cool I've wanted a pair of Mary Jane heels to compliment every skirt I have (this new plaid one I bought in particular). I have been searching everywhere for a low heeled pair because truthfully I'm not trying to tumble everywhere I go, and yet I've been out of luck.
Another shoe I'm dying over this month is the colored pump. Ever since I saw Carrie Bradshaw rock her Manolo Blahnicks on Sex and the City I knew I was destined to have a pump. They legit go with everything and re just so trendy and cute. However I am also having the struggle to find a nice inexpensive colored pump; the struggle just wants to live on for me!

4. High Waist Velvet Pants
This is a new item from the motel rocks collection that I'm crying over right now. They are the perfect pant and I love velvet and high waist anythings. I hope to find another pair for a little cheaper somewhere.

3. Striped Body Suit and Pants
Stripes, Stripes, Stripes and more stripes, I've been obsessing over stripes this whole month. I WANT that striped body suit from American Apparel I'm kind of sad I passed it up when I went. Also that striped pants are rad and I can see me in them with a distressed band tee and my docs.

2. Men's Pants on Women
I've been scouring the racks at the thrift store for the perfect men's pants that will fit my frame and not be ridiculously baggy, but I'm not sure what to look for. If anyone out there s a pro at this please leave a comment or email me on how to do so.

1. The Army Jacket
Another things I've been hunting for at the thrift store and yet to find. This is a piece that is a must in your closet, it adds a certain edge and "I don't care what you say I'm a rebel" sort of attitude that I wouldn't mind mixing with my red lipstick.

Well that's it for this month. Tell me what you think.

Are you guys loving my saddle shoes? I know I am dying over than. They are super cute and every time I hear music I feel like I know how to dance. I got to take the best pictures today because I was going thrifting with my mm and friend around all these warehouses so naturally the rebel in me had to come out.
Also I can't forget to mention that I've been experimenting with mixing prints lately and it's kind of fun. In my opinion things don't have to match they just have to be able to coexist with each other or look like they could possible go together.

It would be awesome if you guys could go like this picture and follow me on instagram @teenag3_dirtbag!

Now for THE FIRST OUTFIT POST OF THE NEW YEAR!!!!! (cue the crowds of people cheering) I went out shopping by Northwestern University, a college on the list of schools I'm thinking out attending, and stopped into the American Apparel and Urban Outffitters in th town. I'd been debating during the few days leading up to the shopping trip if I should purchase the corduroy circle skirt seeing as though on the website it looked super short and I wanted to be able to wear it to school. Low and behold when I got to the store and found them they looked so much longer in person and I ended up making a purchase I am very much proud of.
I reallly liked this outfit. It made me feel like a little school girl or something. Oh and how could I forget, I got another new bag for Christmas THE CAMBRIDGE SATCHEL. People kept coming up to me and saying they loved it and other asked me why I was caring around a briefcase (this includes my own mother). I was so happy when I opened the large gift from my father and very shocked when I saw what was inside; thanks dad!
To wrap up this post I want to acknowlege that  was nominated for THE LIEBSTER AWARD by Lillian from Sew Overdressed and Ellisya from The Monday Diary. Thanks guys!

The Pant Suit

Years ago in 7th grade my friend and I decided we would show up to our eighth grade formal in colorful tailored suits. We tried to get the rest of our friends in on it because we thought it was such a cool idea. It never really occurred to me that if we actually went forth with our plan that we'd be breaking so many barriers in the non-fashion like minds of our fellow classmates until I'd read the article 'Suit Up Sister' in Glamour. The article featured several colorful pant suits ready for the spring runway. So I took the liberty to dig deep into the pantsuit trend and see what designers were putting out there.

 Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear

Mui Mui showed this oxblood pantsuit in the Fall ready-to-wear 2012 collection. I love the higher waist on the pants and how it has more of a masculine cut on it.

 Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear

Jean Paul Gaultier took a different approach on the pantsuit by adding graphic detail to the top of the trouser and jacket. I am really feeling that furry piece the model has draped over her shoulder.

 Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear

I feel like this is a more urban take on the pantsuit. By adding a crop top under as a shirt Salvatore Ferragamo uses a very light heather grey like material that would go perfect with a clear heel.

 Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear

Alright Giorgio Armani I'd definitely have to watch my back around your model especially when she's looking like she's from the mafia. There just something much cooler in the air when I see this suit. The fabric is amazing and the accessories paired with it are too grand. It's like a new and improved zoot suit.

 Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear

I feel like Moschino was trying to do an ode to good ole' Texas when they designed this suit. The jacket is amazing, the sailor stripes go perfectly with the navy blue ribbon tie and the ankle cropped pants. Plus that cowboy hat, I mean come on to great.

 Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear

Narciso Rodriguez took on a more modern look with their pant suit. The jacket is tailored more for woman with the lower cut neckline and attachment at the top.

 Fall 2010 Couture

This feminine version of the pinstripe suit is a very chic look by Jean Paul Gaultier. The hair tie is very Elizabeth Taylor and the fur stole is just glamorous.

 Resort 2011

Can I please have this cotton candy Balenciaga pantsuit? It's gorgeous. A cropped jacket and a high pleated pant. I love it.

So what do you think of pant suits?

P.S. The first post of the New Year. Look out for new outfits post and my first ever interview in about a week!
